A Favorite Destination

Moose Creek is a favorite destination for many Idaho pilots. It offers pilots an opportunity to camp in the shadow of their aircraft and enjoy the quiet solitude of nature deep in the wilderness. Pilots fly in from as far away as New York. Others make an annual pilgrimage to enjoy this unspoiled America.

Moose Creek, set in the vast solitude of the Rockies, offers an enchanting haven away from it all. It employs a pilot's favorite means of travel while surveying some of the most magnificent country there is.

Additional Information

The IAA is an organization of volunteers working to keep Idaho's Forest Service airports open to the public. The organization conducts volunteer "work bees" each summer to maintain Moose Creek and many other wilderness airfields. It also provides airport "hosts" to assist visitors during the summer season. Fifty percent of their members are out-of-state residents.

They also publish a monthly newsletter. Fly Idaho! A Guide to Adventure in the Idaho Backcountry, by Galen Hanselman, (208) 788-5176, www.flyidaho.com. If you'd like more information on where to fly in the Idaho backcountry, Hanselman's book covers 71 airstrips.
