Rental cars: Gallup Flying Service, (505) 863-4998, works with National Car Rental; cars can be reserved directly or through National. Also, Enterprise provides service, but prior arrangements have to be made for the airport office to be open, (505) 722-7388. Given the slightly unreliable nature of personal airplanes (we are sometimes early, often late), Gallup Flying Service makes it very easy by having a car waiting that you can drive onto the ramp. They are open 7 days from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
It is fitting that this aviation adventure began with us landing on an old stretch of Route 66. That famous road inspired adventure and new discoveries. Our explorations showed us the spirit of a small Southwestern town called Gallup and gave us insight into Native American history and the geologic wonders of the area, as well. Follow our lead and Get Your Kicks on Route 66!
