Epic Adventure for Western Skyways Customers
Grand Junction, Colo. — A Western Skyways customer recently flew an epic adventure. After José Resende of LSA Aviation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, purchased a 2004 Cessna 172 in California on behalf of his employer, he flew it to the Western Skyways facility in Montrose, Colo. There, the aircraft received a Western Skyways “Gold Seal” Lycoming IO-360-L2A remanufactured engine, annual inspection, and repair of several squawks. Once it was test flown, cleaned, and detailed, Luis Ramon, son of the owner, accompanied José on the 6,992-nm flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The pair flew to Texas and Florida heading overwater to the Bahamas. Island hopping down the Caribbean brought them to the Dominican Republic, St. Maarten, and Grenada. They made landfall in Georgetown, Guyana, where they continued over coast and jungle to their home base. The flight is documented in a 15-minute video you can view below.
